The FAME Foundation Alumni, Covenant Odedele has emerged as the winner of the University of Ibadan Students Union Election 2025.
He is a fourth-year medical school at the University of Ibadan who completed the FAME Foundation Leadership programme in 2019.
In 2023, he emerged as the youngest Nigerian winner of the prestigious 2023 Princess Diana Award. He was recognized as one of the 188 emerging young visionaries and leaders from 31 countries across the world.
Covenant won the award for his positive social actions and his work with his social enterprise, “Students on Linkedin” which helps university students capitalize on LinkedIn profitably while optimizing them for career development and workplace readiness.
He is the recipient of numerous local and national awards. He is a 2023 Fellow of The Carrington Fellowship of the US Consulate in Nigeria. He led a team of five to win the 2023 Naija Policy Hackathon, and he presented policy recommendations to the Nigerian Student Loan Bill at the hearing of the Nigerian Senate Ad-Hoc Committee on Student Loan Bill.
In May 2024, he was among the six-man delegation that welcomed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry, and Princess Meghan during their inaugural visit to Nigeria.
Covenant is the first medical student to be selected for the highly competitive Nigeria Higher Education Foundation Scholars Program.
Today, Covenant is a successful University student and social innovator, and credits his participation in FAME programmes for laying the strong foundation he has continued to build upon in recent years. He wishes to keep harnessing the skills he gained from FAME to focus on more community development and youth transformation.
He emerged as the clear winner in the University of Ibadan Students Union presidential election, garnering an impressive 4,572 votes.
This is a story reflecting on seeds once planted and the rewards reaped. It is also an affirmation of our belief in raising the kind of leaders we desire in our society.
